To help control what time of day your system pumps, we offer two types of timers. In this article we will go over the differences between the two timers and what systems they can pair up with. We have a Basic timer and Pro timer available for purchase.
Basic Timer
The basic RPS timer is compatible with any system that uses the RPS 100v controller. This includes: RPS 200-800, RPS 200N-800N, T400/800, RPS 400V/800V, and AIR 200/400. The basic timer is wired into the RPS 100V controller at the COM2 and TH terminals. This takes the place of a tank full sensor and when the timer is outside operating hours the tank full light will be lit up on the controller. Only one turn on and shut off time can be programmed into the basic timer. This will have the system run during a single set of hours during the day, each day. With 4 AAA batteries the timer will run for approximately 30 days.
Pro Timer
The Pro Series Timer is compatible with the RPS 200-800, RPS 200N-800N, T400/800, RPS 400V/800V, AIR 200/400 and all of our Pro Series Systems. It is perfect for more complicated watering needs and allows for different daily schedules. You can have multiple times set per day and different times for each day. It’s great for turning on your pump when starting to water an irrigation zone and turning it back off when that zone has completed watering. It can also work for operating alongside another irrigation controller that handles multiple zones.
The Pro timer comes with an interface module which you use to wire up into your Pro or RPS 100V Controller. When wiring to the RPS 100V controller the COM2 and TH terminals are used. When wiring to the Pro controller the COM port plug is used. As with all pumps, you should be careful not to dead head your pump and set up your zone water schedules to prevent this (turn on water valves first, before turning on the pump so there is always water flowing when the pump is operating). The Pro timer runs on two 9V batteries for about 6 months.
