VC3.11/VC3.22 Battery Settings
The VC3 controller that comes paired with TPP is capable of charging several battery types. The default battery type setting is Gel, but the controller can also utilize AGM and Lifepo4 batteries. Using the controller buttons we can change the battery type parameters.
Changing setting parameters:
Press the “SET” button to enter the setup menu and exit the setup menu. After entering the setup menu, the parameter number [00] will flash. At this point, press the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons to select the code of the parameter item to be set. Then, press the “ENT” button to enter the parameter editing mode, and the value of the parameter is flashing. Adjust the value of the parameter with the “UP” and “DOWN” buttons. Finally, press the “ENT” button to complete the parameter editing and return to the parameter selection state.
Setting parameter 08:
Using the steps above, navigate to parameter [08] to set the battery type. The controller will display a short code to define the battery type. The codes are as follows:
GEL- Gel battery, constant charge voltage of 28.4V, floating charge voltage of 27.6V
SLd- Sealed lead acid battery, constant charge voltage of 28.8V, floating charge voltage of 27.6V
FLd- Vented lead acid battery, constant charge voltage of 29.2V, floating charge voltage of 27.6V
LF07- Lithium iron phosphate battery, constant charging voltage of 24.8V
LF08- Lithium iron phosphate battery, constant charging voltage of 28.4V
LF09- Lithium iron phosphate battery, constant charging voltage of 31.8V
- This can usually be found on the battery label
Most batteries will fit into one of these categories but the system cannot support other types of batteries then the ones listed above. When selecting a LF setting use the option with the closest charging voltage that matches the specifications on the battery itself without going over the rated charging voltage. Once selection is complete, exit the setup menu and return to the real time data viewing screen.
