Wiring a Battery Powered DC Timer Switch
Tools/Supplies Required
- 4 AAA batteries (change monthly)
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Wire Strippers
- Short length well low/tank full wire
- Mount the timer near the controller. Be sure it’s in a horizontal orientation. Keep out of direct sunlight when programming so that the LCD display is easier to look at.
- Strip a small length of 18ga-2 or 22ga-2 jacketed wire.
- A small length of wire cut from one of the included sensors in the RPS kit will do well but any two wires of even length will work.
- Connect one end of the wires to the tank full sensor terminals (COM2 and TH). Note which colored wire went into which terminal.
- Push the other end of the wires through the grommet and connect the wire from TH to (+) terminal and the COM2 wire to the (-) terminal on the timer.
- Install the batteries. The LCD Display will show 00:00. Keep in mind that to extend battery life, the LCD powers down. In these cases, you can have the timer display the current time by pressing the TIME button once.
- Set the timer first using 24HR (military) time. Press Time to set the hour(0-23) using the (+) and (-) buttons. Once the hour is set, press the TIME button once more to set the minute(0-59). Press Time once more to exit the time setting function.
- To set the start and stop times, press the SET button. LED1 will illuminate. This is the START time. Change the values using the (+) and (–) buttons. Use the SET button to advance from hours to minutes. Pressing the SET button a third time will illuminate LED2. This is the STOP time. Adjust first, the hours, then the minutes. Press the SET button once more to exit the pump duration settings.
- Note: (There is only one turn on and turn off window per 24 hours)
- The timer is now set. The Tank Full light will be illuminated for all hours outside the time window specified.
- The POWER_low LED will illuminate to signify that it is time to change the batteries. If the batteries are changed and power is lost, you will need to set it to the correct time but the start and stop times are stored in memory and will not need to be re-entered.
